Statement on U.S. Embassy in Ankara
We are shocked and saddened by the terrorist attack outside the U.S. Embassy in Ankara, Turkey, where a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device killing himself and one other person, identified by U.S. Ambassador Francis Ricciardione as a Turkish embassy guard. We condemn this attack in the strongest terms. There is no justification for this act of violence. Once again we offer our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives and our thoughts and prayers go out to all those injured.It is only through active dialogue and efforts to understand one another that we can combat the forces of ignorance that fuel such terrible acts of violence.
